It looks like you're using an RSS feed given the xml format, so you probably want to use the CDATA sections anyways so that RSS readers don't get confused by the HTML tags.
Now, maybe I just don't understand exactly what you're trying to
accomplish? Are you saying you want to just read the contents of the
description field?
