Some advice: 1) If you think this is a bug with 1.4 alpha itself, it's said in the blog post announcing it's release to use the bug tracking feature to report bugs
2) If you think it's an issue with BlockUI, specifying this fact in the title would help catch the attention of the plugin author, and "bug with jquery 1.4 a1" gives zero indication of that
