Thanks for the answer and sorry to all because this is a duplicate post (I've posted the same question twice because the first time my registration was waiting approvation). Believe me, I've tried your useful tips too. I've tried all possible combinations! In IE6 and IE7 that code didn't work. But now I've found the problem. In the local IIS webserver that we use in the office to test applications there are some settings that don't allow IE to process dynamic code correctly in asynchronous calls (i really don't know... maybe the processed code has a wrong content type). I've uploaded the same code on the final webserver (where I'll put the app once completed) and all work (for now...).
