Hahaha... my work said the same thing! I turned them down though, honestly I just combined the official jquery.com website documentation with the dust-covered javascript portion of my brain from when I used to use it years ago. Their official documentation is all I needed to teach myself jQuery. I have only been using it for a couple of months or so, but being able to sit down on a near daily basis and experiment on the website I am working on at my work has helped a bunch. If you ever get discouraged there is always google (which more often than not has lead me to stackoverflow.com -- a very handy web design helpdesk)
