The refactor has been started, but I haven't seen much activity on it as of late. This issue is quite serious, and I'm sorry it's affecting you. Our Trac install likes to throw that error unless you're logged in, so we've all just been avoiding it by always logging in, but it's a bit of a pain, yeah. We've tried more than once to fix it and finally we're going with a fresh install. It's in testing now.
