I haven't read all of your arguments here, but I would definitely say that a forum is not really that nice of an idea.
The advantage of having a mailing list, is that I do NOT have to login to several pages or forums to get access. I have ONE unified place for it all, my mail, which I happen to check everyday and I can read upon whenever I want. I do not have to learn a new page, set up anything or any of that bullshit that comes with it. Now, had this been a forum, I would never just have clicked on the Gmail label to see what's up and write. I would actually have to make an effort to go to the forum, log in and such. This way, it's much much easier to get access and be active. I just subscribed three days ago. Forums are passé. The new shit is mailing lists. When I can subscribe to a forum AND respond to it right from my daily login ( my email ), it just seems pretty crazy to make that harder by moving to a forum. jQuery is about making it easier. Make sure people find out how to subscribe to this mailing list instead. Many new developers aren't that familiar with the concept. I wasn't 15 months ago, and now I just love it. It's hundred times better than a forum. Forums should move to mailing lists. lol / Moe On Sun, Jan 24, 2010 at 6:23 PM, Octavian Rasnita <[email protected]>wrote: > Hi Clayton, > > No problem.
