Try www.ibm.com/java

In my experience, IBM's JVM is much faster than Sun's on Linux.  Not sure if
it's as reliable.  Actually, nothing beats Blackdown's 1.3 for Linux as far
as reliability (to my knowledge -- it's been a while since I tooled with
JVMs on Linux).

You might also try JRockit 3.0, which isn't free, but wicked fast and
scalable on Linux:
