Hi matt. Do you have the manual in an accessible format? I have the S90es, not the motif. It sounds like you're still in local mode and you don't want that.
Under system/settings on the motif, there should be an option to enable USB transmit. If it is the same as my board, which it very well might be, then it is off by default.
