Hi folks.
If you are using the BCF2000 control surface in Sonar, I have some
questions for you. I'm trying to finish up my little notes file on
this piece of equipment, and can't find out a few things.
The updated file will be available on Phil Muir's site as soon as
it is complete, and will hopefully simplify the process of getting
blind users up and working with this device.
What I have done so far:
1. Hooked up the surface via USB.
2. Turned on the surface in mackey emulation mode.
3. Told Sonar to use it, in mackey emulation mode.
So currently, faders 1-8 adjust the volume of their respective
tracks, knobs 1-8 adjust panning, and the top button of each strip
mutes/unmutes the associated track.
Here's what I still need to find out.
1. How do I move the control surface along, so-to-speak, so I can
access the next 8 tracks in a project?
2. The bottom button of the two buttons on each strip appears to
do nothing. Can I assign this to solo the track for that strip?
3. When looking at the mackey Control property page in Sonar, and
hitting F1 for help, I get all the button assignments for that
surface. Is there a list somewhere that tells how these buttons
correspond to those on the Behringer unit?
4. When the Behringer is in Mackey emulation mode, can I
temporarily reassign controls to effects parameters, like the track
EQ, compressor etc.? Do I need to switch to another mode to do
this, and how easy is it to then get back into track mode, after
adjusting effects?
Last but not least, is there a way to get Sonar to just use the
Behringer natively, without it having to emulate another
surface? I'm asking this because as far as I know, another DAW
application, Reaper, can directly support the BCF2000.
Thanks for any help with the above. I realize my post is rather
long, but I'd like to compile all this info to help the larger
community. The BCF2000 is still by far the cheapest control
surface with motorized faders, and for what little I've used it on
so far, works great!
