Hi, I really liked the Korg nanoPad wehn I got it, and yes, it seems to work perfectly for my needs in putting down a drum track. However, I've now had it a little while and I'm pretty convinced the pads on it are going already, some seem to need to be hit so hard to get any response going into whatever soft synth it is, and others seem almost to stick on hitting them. Maybe I've been too heavy handed in my use of it, I mean its not the most expensive pad input device in the world by a long way, but if its failing already then I think I'd have been better off spending more to get something which would last longer. I do plan on taking it to bits at some point soon to see if its got dusty or bits of crap inside it which are effectiving how it works.
I still can't figure out why some control surfaces/pads are so expensive, there really is sod all to their construction, but it seems you have to take out a small loan on all but the most cheap bottom end of the market gear. I needed something small to fit next to me on the desk, and not so expensive that I'd be eating into the money I'm tryign to get together for a new soundcard; the NanoPad seemed to be priced about right and was nice and small, but I think now I may have to look at somethign a bit more robust if my having a go at cleaning out its insides doesn't work... The X Y pad on it is really good too, I think even if I got a new drum pad control surface, I'd keep the nanoPad and set up the S Y bit on it as a control surface, even if I'm not able to use the pads...
