Hello list, First I would like to thank Drew for answering my questions regarding midi surface and audio interface. Drew if you are reading this thanx!
At first I was pondering on whether to get the Tascam fw1884 an all in one solution, or get the Behringer BCF2000 and a audio interface such as the Lexicon Omega. The used Tascam fw1884 that I found for a pretty good price on ebay was sold out before I could decide. For that reason my next choice was the behringer BCF2000 and a separate audio interface. How ever, after doing quite a bit of research on it, I found out that the BCF2000's motorize faders are not touch sensitive. Which means I would not be able to mix during playback. This is very important to me for I like to adjust my mix during play back. For this reason I have decided on getting an Alesis Master Control after reading up quite a bit on it. It is an all in one solution, a control surface/audio interface/room control. I can't wait to play with my new toy. It should be arriving this Monday. However, it is a firewire interface and I do not have a firewire port in my desktop, so I've purchased a cheap firewire PCI card off ebay. This is my first time dealing with firewire and I heard that the brand of the firewire card could effect the way data is sent back and fourth. Well, I hope this won't be the case with mine. I don't have much more money to spend, but If I have to I'll buy a name brandn firewire card. One question regarding midi control surface. If my midi control surface is capable of controlling 8 tracks at a time, how will it work when I am using soft synths? I mainly use soft synths and as you all know it requires two tracks for each, an audio track and a midi track. Will the control surface reckorgnize this and allow me to control one track per soft synths? Or will it will see the tracks in the order it is in, only allowing me to control 4 soft synths if I have 8 loaded? Thank you. Ratha
