I here you guys discousing usb and mini xlr mics, personally i would never buy a mic that can only connect with usb, truth is that most usb mics wil never give you a professional sound, the analog to digital conversion algarythms are simply too low and slow to give you a true 44.1 khz sample rate at 16 bit, not even mentioning higher. The only time i'll go for a usb mic is if it's a realy high end expensive mic because it wil have its own analog to digital converter built in, but they anyway don't build high end pro usb mics. Mini xlr is also a risk as you are bound to run in to connector compatiblity issues someware along the way and remember each xlr to mini xlr converter or other converter used in the signal path degrades your signal to some extent. I would personally always go for a propper xlr mic and never for a usb, even if you only record yourself on your pc now and a usb seems fine, you never know what thefuture holds. -original message- Subject: Re: [Jsonar] good beginer mic From: "Cameron" <[email protected]> Date: 20/01/2011 18:07
Hi matt. That mic has been discontinued. Check out the studio projects cs5. I have one and she's a very nice microphone for the money! They say it is not longer available. Is this true? Where else can I get it? Is it xlr? or usb?
