I am not very familiar with ASP technology, so would you mind me if I ask what
"global.asa" is,
or what would a JSP equivalent "global.jsa" accomplish.

Addison-Wesley's book on Java Server Pages presents a good example on how to
accomplish this. What they did was in the Java Servlet, it checked to see
if the cookie or Session ID was present. If it wasn't, then the servlet
redirected the browser to the start page.
