The people that kind of measure is meant to help are the exact same
people who never look to see if there's a FAQ, or search the least bit
on the web for the information they need.

Not objecting to the idea; it's bound to help a few people.  But nothing
will stop the apparently human tendency to seek the path of least
resistance.  Unfortunately, it rarely occurs to people (unless they stop
to think--which isn't always the easiest thing to do), that the path of
least resistance is not to make someone else do it for you, but to learn
it yourself--the hard way--by reading and trying things out.
