i haven't found any [useful] guidance on how to approach a problem (consulted the
archives and "Java Threads" Oaks/Wong, and most of the o'reilly texts).

the problem: how to efficiently wait for an xml file to appear in a known [server]
directory. this would occur after login to the site. the xml file contents then
populate an input screen to be completed by the user. this, i suppose, can be
implemented with a blocking thread on exists() for the xml file. but i can't find
any direction on how this might be done in jsp pages.

thanx,
robert young
