first, download Tomcat from apache.org, or from java.sun.com
(they got a link to apache).
just unzip the tomcat.zip on linux using unzip.
then just move the unzipped tomcat directory to somewhere you
want.
make sure you read the README notes that tells you what you need
to do with your CLASSPATH, PATH and etc.
make sure you have jdk installed on your linux box,too. I use
1.2.2
