If you don't want to use the JDBCODBC bridge that Sun provides try J-data
connect.  They are commercial but the sample one they let you download is
fully functional (as a connection pool) for 30 days or so. Afterwards it
still works on a smaller scale for experimenting with your own code. I am
not sure of their web site but try a search on Jdataconnect or some form of
it. Hope this is of help. BTW this one returns a scrollable result set.
