it won't work as javascript is a client side script. And i never heard any solution to 
do that, if any one has some good solution then pls come up.

I can suggest a way to do that. Call the JSP or servlet where your redirection code is 
written using javascript.

<a href="javascript:window.open('some.jsp','new 
window','toolbar=no,width=400,height=400')">some.jsp</a>

and the some.jsp code will do all the process and then redirects to xxx.html in tha 
same opened window.
