Off topic reply, but this is an amazingly stupid article -- it's absolutely
right and also utterly irrelevant. Of course Win32 based Java environments
depend on Winsock -- it's the networking interface. It's probably -- shock
horror -- depends on Windows file management code to read things off the
disk.

Of course, if you switch to Solaris, it depends on sockets -- the equivalent
of Winsock. Networking is layered -- no-one would be stupid enough to add
their own networking stack to Windows just to get around Winsock.
