This question kind of system admin question,

just wondering why you guys don't consider use some handy resource kit
application for NT/2K or Unix. Put them in a batch file or script?

Sufi,
To improve the performance, try some of the following approaches:
1) Use multiple threads so your program can test several ip addresses at
the same time.
2) refactor your code inside the loop and improve its performance
3) Have your program output to a file so it can run at night.
4) Use multiple threads and have one thread determine if a machine exists
at an ip address and another do the test for what kind of server resides at
each valid address.

Regards,

Richard

You should also ask this question on a different mailing list because it
has nothing to do whatsoever with Java Server Pages.
