depending on how much data you need to put into the treeview, alot of the javascript ones (havent tried the one from nostree) hog memory and take a LONG time to come up. this is the case for me when I have to show a tree structure that contains 10 years worth of data (about 1 row per month of each year). one solution seems to be to go back to the server on each click on the tree. that's wasted bandwidth for high traffic sites and brings unnecessary potential errors from outside sources. the better solution is to just code a javascript tree that only pulls in the needed information when it is requested. the information can be stored in a javascript array or other arraylike datastructure using jsp or anything. this keeps it all in client side after the data is initially transfered but doesnt hog up resources or time because there's no need to display (or reserve display space) for things that the users will never want to view.

Check out the TICL tag library, at http://www2.kobrix.com/index.jsp. It's free. I haven't used it on a live site, but installed it and played with it a bit on my local machine. > ---------- > From: Kesav, Ramesh[SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Reply To: A mailing list about Java Server Pages specification and > reference > Sent: Thursday, June 20, 2002 3:39 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: tree structure in javascript > > Hi all, > > pardon me for this out of topic question but it is urgent for me. > anybody has the source to create a tree structure thru javascript please > send it to me in zip format. > > Regards > > Ramesh Kesavanarayanan > Electronic Data Systems India pvt Ltd > > * 91-44-254 9650 ext :2469 > * [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > ========================================================================== > = > To unsubscribe: mailto [EMAIL PROTECTED] with body: "signoff > JSP-INTEREST". > For digest: mailto [EMAIL PROTECTED] with body: "set JSP-INTEREST > DIGEST". > Some relevant FAQs on JSP/Servlets can be found at: > > http://archives.java.sun.com/jsp-interest.html > http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/faq.html > http://www.esperanto.org.nz/jsp/jspfaq.jsp > http://www.jguru.com/faq/index.jsp > http://www.jspinsider.com > ************************************************************************** This email (including any attachments) is intended for the sole use of the intended recipient/s and may contain material that is CONFIDENTIAL AND PRIVATE COMPANY INFORMATION.
