This maybe too advanced for what you are looking, but there may be ways
of using JMS (Java Message Service) and setting up a MessageListener to
deal with notifications...

Just a thought!

Use the Push technique from the server.... look for examples in the java
site or search the net...

Subject: Asynchronous notification of server events to a browser.

Hello,

I intend to use Struts/JSP to build an application and would like to
inform
users of certain events asynchronously. I would like a window to pop-up
on a
particular user's browser when an event pertaining to him gets completed
at
the server end.
Is there any way to do that?

TIA,
Anand
