No, the server is remote.
I've also had a local server in the past which had this problem.

So I put in some System.out.println() in the page.
They instantly all print out to Catalina.out but the page continues to
load for another 10 seconds.

Here's the messages I put in:
Made it to the top
Right before footer
Right after footer

...again they are all instantly printed to Catalina.out when I refresh
the page.

In my application log I get a bunch of these:
2003-09-19 12:02:13 StandardContext[/redi]: Mapping contextPath='/redi'
with requestURI='/redi/inc/img/local_menu/green_arrow_down.gif' and
relativeURI='/inc/img/local_menu/green_arrow_down.gif'
2003-09-19 12:02:13 StandardContext[/redi]: Trying exact match

2003-09-19 12:02:13 StandardContext[/redi]: Trying extension match

2003-09-19 12:02:13 StandardContext[/redi]: Mapped to servlet 'default'
with servlet path '/inc/img/local_menu/green_arrow_down.gif' and path
info 'null' and update=true

Any ideas? It's real weird, it has no problem compiling the page but it
still hangs for about 10 seconds before the browser stops loading the
page.

Weird.

Troy,
Have you determined that the request is getting handled by the server by
looking at the server logs and putting debug statements in your code?
Does
it happen on all browsers? Are you running the server on the same
machine as
your browser? If so, have you tried accessing the page from a different
machine?

Regards,

Richard
