I don't mean to be critical, but this list seems awfully concerned with the form of
questions; I can't imagine the same level of interest exists here in actually helping
people, which is what I thought the list was about. More words were used in
excoriating the poster about his post than in dealing with the question he asked. A
snide non-response is worse than no response at all...

Like anything else that communicates with a servlet. Through HTTP
requests. But you don't usually connect an applet with a servlet.
And I do not mean to whine, but please communicate in a way that is
proper for mailing lists. That's uppercase letters at the start of a
sentence, correct punctuation and no short forms such as "u".
