So would you please tell me, if there are plans to implement such a
method in JSPWiki 2.6 resp. please let me know, how we can bring in

code for such a method into the JSPWiki code base?
There are no plans. We are, in fact, ditching the entire
PageProvider interface in 3.0, so it is unlikely that there will be
any modifications to it anymore.
One of the reasons why we're changing is to enable just the
functionality you are talking about... Currently there is no way for
the provider to notify the engine if the page has changed.
However, you can tweak the cache check time. Currently it is 30
seconds, so any modifications in the repository should be noticed by
JSPWiki within 30 seconds. You can even make it shorter if you want
to. E.g.
jspwiki.cachingProvider.cacheCheckInterval = 5
Would set it to 5 seconds.
