OK, reopening.
I also noticed that it does not sort correctly when there are negative integers
in the sortdata. I've got data which looks like this (quotes omitted for
brevity):
<td sortdata=-1>1 dan</td>
<td sortdata=-1>1 dan</td>
<td sortdata=-2>2 dan</td>
<td sortdata=-3>3 dan</td>
<td sortdata=1>1 kyu</td>
<td sortdata=2>2 kyu</td>
<td sortdata=3>3 kyu</td>
The sorting still occurs in alphabetical order according to the data in the
table cell, not the sortdata.
