You have good points; it should be easier to get it deployed.
One of the problems is that you need to modify jspwiki.properties after
installation, and that can't be done if the whole thing is wrapped in a WAR. It
would be nice if there was a simple way to do all that.
(One of the chief problems with dependency management systems is that not all
of our dependencies are available in Maven repos and the repos can get awfully
messy [he said, having spent the entire morning trying to get Selenium to just
resolve.])
The best doc is at the root of the source directory in the file called "README".
