Hi Janne,

Here are some GC settings that I'm using with JDK 1.6. I'm not running JSPWiki with them, but I am running a heavily loaded java app with good stability.

-Xmn2g
-Xss1m
-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC
-XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:SurvivorRatio=8
-XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90
-XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=15
-XX:+AggressiveOpts
-XX:+PrintGCDetails
-XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps
-XX:+UseBiasedLocking

HTH,
E

Hi ho folks!

I recently upgraded jspwiki.org to run under JDK 1.6.0_3, but unfortunately that turned out to be a mistake: apparently there are stability issues with it, since after that, the wiki engine became unresponsive every six-to-twelve hours. I have a script which pings jspwiki.org every 20 minutes, and if it's not responding within 30 seconds, it kills and restarts the underlying process.

Yesterday, I went back to 1.5.0_6, and the problems disappeared.

This all is on Ubuntu 6.06, and no, I can't tell you what caused the unresponsiveness. The heap is pretty full, so this could be a GC issue, but I ran both with and without -XX:ConcurrentGC, and there was no difference. jspwiki.org and ecyrd.com which are both running under the same VM are both pretty heavily loaded (about 1 hit/second on each).

Anybody have any similar experiences?

/Janne
