2.6.x tests run 100% for me in my environment. 2.8.x does not, and
those need to be fixed.
These are probably related to Linux as an environment, which is
revealing certain bugs.

Simon, is it possible that you run the tests once again in your now
sane environment and report whether they're still failing?
