Newbie JSPWiki question re database...

Hi for a vanilla install of JSPWiki on Tomcat, am I *always* using a 
database (hsql or postgresql) or is everything saved as files in the 
filesystem?  I don't know if I need to activate JDBC explicitly or 
that's done by default.
