Sean Welch of Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. will present "Basic Lean Principles".
Mr. Welch is a manufacturing process specialist. We expect that the lean
principles he will present are applicable to the software process as well.
"In this presentation we will discus the history and basics of lean process.
Lean is based on the principles of the Toyota Production System. Lean
principles can be applied to any process. Companies that embrace lean
systems see remarkable improvements in the areas of quality, productivity,
lead time, and increased revenue opportunities. Some of the basic principles
of lean are waste elimination, JIT, jidoka, and pace to takt."
Sean Welch has been working with lean since 1996. He first applied lean
principles at a company called Tri-Tronics. Mr. Welch was one of the charter
members of Ventana Medical System's Lean Systems Office. He currently works
at Ventana Medical Systems in Instrument Manufacturing Engineering as the
Lean Process Specialist.
