Since there's some interest in Flex among our members I'm forwarding an announcement for a Tucson Adobe Group meeting -- the speaker is Joey Lott, co-author of one of my favorite Flex books, "Programming Flex 3". His topic is "How To Architect Flex Applications".

Here's the announcement:

Hi Folks –
Our next meeting will be on a different day of the week and in a different location, to accommodate the schedule of a special speaker, Joey Lott.

The program is on Monday, Nov 10, from 3 to 5
Location: Room 309 Arizona State Museum, UA campus, Building 26 (north building), 1013 E. University Boulevard <http://www.statemuseum.arizona.edu/about/visit.shtml>http://www.statemuseum.arizona.edu/about/visit.shtml Parking Information: Convenient parking is available just one block from the museum at Tyndall and Second (uncovered lot). Additional parking is available at Euclid and Second (covered garage) or Tyndall and Fourth (covered garage). See the map above. There is a small fee for parking on weekdays. Parking is free on weekends.

Joey Lott, author of the upcoming “Programming Flex 3,” is taking a road trip starting September 22 in Massachusetts and ending November 16 at Adobe Max in San Francisco, CA. Along the way, Joey is talking to Adobe User Groups across the country. On Monday, November 10 at 3pm at the Arizona State Museum, Joey will be speaking to the Tucson Adobe User Group about Flex.

The presentation is entitled “How To Architect Flex Applications”

This is the description of the talk from the speaker: When building Flex applications the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You may know how to work with the pieces of Flex (layout, styling components, data components, etc.) but it's still rather easy to get tangled up and frustrated when trying to stitch the piece together into a coherent application. In this presentation we'll look at strategies you can use to build Flex applications in the best way possible. Rather than presenting one boiler plate solution as the "right way" this presentation looks at the bigger picture and common patterns you can employ.

This meeting is open to any person, not just members of the university community. To register go to <http://tag.arizona.edu/>http://tag.arizona.edu and click on the registration link for the next meeting.

We hope to see you there!
Erica DeFrain
