This week in Juggling History In 1768 Philip Astley formed the first circus in England. Among the first acts hired were two clowns that could juggle. WC Fields WC Fields is remembered as a comedian who played a lovable drunk. He had come up performing Vaudeville where one person would often have to do three or four routines. Besides playing a fiddle he also juggled. https://youtu.be/gbDUqOwrtvI Ironically when he was on Vaudeville his most popular act was juggling and during his early career he abstained from drinking to preserve his juggling skills. When he became a famous comedian he did not have to juggle professionally and became what we would probably consider a massive alcoholic today.
