Well that was another surprise: to upgrade, I deleted my julia and .julia files, and then I just went to the github site <https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia> and followed the installation instructions there (in particular, running git clone git://github.com/JuliaLang/julia.git and then "make".
I wasn't expecting a 0.4 dev version. How would one go about installing a 0.3 version on Linux?
