Figured this out. I was thinking that like on Mac I have find where the 
directory containing julia and then delete it. But then I tried the sudo 
apt-get remove julia and that worked. 
Then I deleted the nightlies  PPA followed with sudo apt-get install julia, 
which installed 0.3.4.
