Julia is as such a general purpose programming language, but A LOT of the 
articles and tutorials out there are for scientific computing (not 
surprising...). People have written a lot of stuff somewhat unrelated to 
scientific computing, but you won't find a lot of pre-written help out 
there. However, you can always ask here or on reddit.

Is it at all possible for you to find a learning partner? This would be 
very helpful in my experience.
