Dear Arnd and Users

I have uploaded a new version of the JumpPrinter plugin that now includes an option to save the "printed image" as a file (jpg, png or svg formats - that latter requires the Batik libraries). Whatever is laid out for the printer will go to the image. The image resolution is set indirectly by setting the paper size and drawing scale For example a drawing on an A4 sheet of paper will be (approx) 450x700 pixels in portrait orientation). By changing the scale to draw over 3x A4 sheets wide will give an image of about 1400 pixels wide. High resolution images can thus be created.

The SVG images seem to load OK using the Batik tool, but not using Gimp (I get errors on loading pixbufs)!

Any comments and suggestions are welcome

Dear Geoff,

congratulation for this very useful improvements in Your printer plugin!
The layer legend for colour theming layer is very important. The plugin works very secure and fast. I like it very much. One suggestion for an improvement I have: A function to export the layout view not only to the printer but also as an image file like PNG or similiar file type with the legend, scale bar, north arrow etc.. Possible reason: Writing reports could require to import a such layout view in the Text-Document. And I think it is not possible to import a PDF as an image in a text document (e.g. openoffice writer document or similiar)

Kindly regards
Arnd

Dear Aneel

I have up laoaded a new version of the JumpPrinter plugin. This has a new furniture type item, the "Layer Legend" that allows layers which have a theming style to be added to a new legend item, showing color patches against the theme labels as assigned in the Change Styles dialog. Please try this out and let me know of there are any problems.improvements.

This new furniture item is in addition to the original legend (now called the "Map Legend") - both can be placed on a printed map.

  Dear Geoffrey,
If there is only one layer in the map, when the different polygons in the layer are assigned color by using color theming in style manager of OJ based on a attribute value ,only four colors are shown with the layer-name as of now. Instead if all colors with different attributes form part of legend, one gets a detailed legend for the layer.

cheers
