Hi Landon, "Maybe we need a committee or group at the OSGeo that can support and promote open source GIS at the United Nations. Maybe OpenJUMP could have some role in this.".. I agree totally. I find OpenJUMP a good bet to promote FOSS GIS. Trying my best to spread this gospel in India.OpenJUMP with post GIS is a proven dormula. Cheers Ravi Kumar

I will do so now. :] I also agree that this situation is unfortunate. However, I think you have to recognize the role money plays in this, and it doesn't surprise me that the owner of the GIS monoply is capitilizing on opportunities at the United Nations. Maybe we need a committee or group at the OSGeo that can support and promote open source GIS at the United Nations. Maybe OpenJUMP could have some role in this. Let me know if this idea is of interest to you. Landon On 9/25/07, RAVI KUMAR wrote: > > Hi all, > It is unfortunate that United Nations nearly advocates Proprietory GIS. > Time we react to this. It looks like I will have more docs to review after I finish with the OpenJUMP functions docs. Keep up the good work.
