Hello Sunburned Surveyor,

I am unfortunately not a programmer but a user, so it is a bit difficult for me to discuss it from the technical side of view. The problem is, that there 2 or 3 plugin menues called e.g "Plugins" and that is not comfortable for users to have a look under which of that same named menues is the function he wants to use next. A simple solution could be to name the menues with the name of the developer/developer group like PIROL Plugins or Cadplan Plugins and so on. Of course I know that than the user also have no idea which developer builts which plugin... And may also be a simple user is not interested about which developer builts which plugin. So a better solution is to create thematical menues by the core developer and the plugin developers have to decide under which menue his plugin could have the best place (decision with advice from core developers?). I do not know which technical or bureaucratic problems will follow for the developers. And another thing is to find good thematical names like e.g. "Statistics", "Layout", "3D-Visualisation", "Without assignment".....

Could be be that this is a topic which were discussed hunderts times and years before and it is difficult or impossible to find a solution. But we could try??

Kindly regards
Arnd

What type of restrictions did you have in mind? What would make naming
plug-in menu items easier?

This is something I would like to discuss more.

Hello,

depending on the installed plugins there different menues in the menu bar.
But some menues have (nearly) the same names.
So, I want to ask, if there is chance to make a restriction or set
requirements for naming menues (by the plugin developers)?
I also know that it is not easy to find a clearly or unique menu name
for plugins of different developers which have functions for the
specific tasks.
May be that it takes time to gather minds and ideas about it.
