I agree with Larry.

I was also a bit suprised about the variety that OJ is used: i.e. for data editing and also for analysis [I considered the latter as a research thing... i.e. with not that much interrested people].

Hi Ravi,

It is great to hear that OpenJUMP is getting so much use in India. I wonder if it would be possible for us to see your mock exercises in some way. Perhaps your FOSS4G paper will contain this information. Personally, I do not have very broad experience with GIS outside of my own small area of interest (Facilities Management), and it would be very helpful in building future software features to see other ways OpenJUMP is used.

    Hi All,
at OSGeo the Indian chapter Open Jump is the most used and
evangelised software along with GRASS GIS.

    1. It is used as a GIS that can be spread to the beginner and expert
    alike.
    2. We have a mock exercise 'Locating a site for a Nuclear power
plant', using a set of layers, which endears GIS to the user.
    3. Project with OpenJUMP: For the parliamentary constituency of
    Rajahmundry
we have used GRASS, OpenJUMP and ILWIS extensively. This is
    going to be
        presented at FOSS4G 2008.
    4. OpenJUMP + PostGIS
For Geologists we teach 'Mineral Prognostication', with Mock
Exercise data which has become very popular.
    5. OpenJUMP + Inkscape
For Geologists to make cartographic outputs acceptable in
    standard formats.
Thanks to the 'Vertex symbols plugin' and Printer plugin..
    OpenJUMP is THE GIS
        for Geological maps.

Mock Exercises: Soon would like to add the mock exercises freely
    down loadable.

    Cheers
    Ravi Kumar

We've had 14 responses to our June OpenJUMP user survey so far. I
think the number of responses have slowed down. I'm going to close the
survey on Friday morning. I'll try to get the results posted Friday

        afternoon.

If you want to participate in the survey please do so before Friday
morning.

        Thanks,
