If you use the "encrypted-password" then the router assumes you are telling it some pre-encrypted value. You need to use the "plain-text-password" when you enter the commmand, then go back and look at the show config output.
You'll need to follow the exciting password recovery procedures now... Or, if you didn't commit the changes, simply reboot the router to get access again!
