From, Junos Cookbook, Create a PCMCIA boot flash card that contains the JUNOS install media. First, copy the install media from the JUNOS software download page on the Juniper Networks support site (http://www.juniper.net/support).
On M-series and T-series routers, copy this file to the router's /var/tmp directory. Then, insert a PC card into the router's drive and copy the install media to the PC card: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> start shell [EMAIL PROTECTED] cd /var/tmp [EMAIL PROTECTED] su [EMAIL PROTECTED] dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rad3 count=20 [EMAIL PROTECTED] dd if=install-media-7.4R1.7-domestic of=/dev/rad3 bs=64k Regards Lucio -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Scott Morris Sent: Viernes, 30 de Marzo de 2007 13:17 To: 'Jee Kay'; juniper-nsp@puck.nether.net Subject: Re: [j-nsp] Creating an M7i boot PCMCIA card If you look at the "jinstall" versions of JUNOS where you download files, that will be the version for your CF/PCMCIA card. And (if memory serves) the instructions for imaging the CF (through the 'dd' program) are posted at the download site. I now have a working M7i, a broken M7i with a new harddrive and a 256M PCMCIA flash card. I'm trying to figure out how I create a bootable flash so that I can boot up the broken router, and how I then reinstall JunOS onto the new drive. Does anyone have any hints/instructions on how exactly to do this? My guess is it'll be something like the follow but I need details :) a) Use working router to create bootable flash b) Boot broken router from flash c) Transfer JunOS from flash onto new HDD d) Reboot broken router from HDD Thanks in advance, Ras _______________________________________________ juniper-nsp mailing list juniper-nsp@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/juniper-nsp _______________________________________________ juniper-nsp mailing list juniper-nsp@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/juniper-nsp _______________________________________________ juniper-nsp mailing list juniper-nsp@puck.nether.net https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/juniper-nsp
