Hi all I have installed version 9.0R2.10 in an M7i with 256Mb of Compact flash. With a roouting engine 400 with 768Mb of ram and this is working fine
The release notes Is not clear regarding this point: RAM requirement increased (M-series, MX-series, and T-series routing platforms)-The compact flash disk memory requirement for JUNOS software Release 9.0 is 1 GB. For M7i and M10i routing platforms with only 256 MB memory, see the Customer Support Center JTAC Technical Bulletin PSN-2007-10-001 https://www.juniper.net/alerts/viewalert.jsp?txtAlertNumber=PSN-2007-10-001&actionBtn=Search. [Installation and Upgrade] It's talking about Ram and flash at the same time and this is not clear. The Alert-bulletin is realy saying that we need to have 512Mb of RAM: PSN Issue : The RE-400-256 Routing Engine contains only 256MB of main memory. Beginning with JUNOS release 9.0, this is insufficient to run JUNOS software; the minimum supported main memory configuration for JUNOS 9.0 and above is 512MB For information here are the traces from my chassis: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> show chassis hardware detail Hardware inventory: Item Version Part number Serial number Description Chassis 39986 M7i Midplane REV 04 710-008761 CN0080 M7i Midplane Power Supply 0 Rev 06 740-008537 5436153 AC Power Supply Power Supply 1 Rev 06 740-008537 5384037 AC Power Supply Routing Engine REV 09 740-009459 1000606414 RE-5.0 ad0 244 MB 256MB CHH 5073I8C25A4027001A Compact Flash ad1 19077 MB HTS548020M9AT00 MRL122L1GPVAKB Hard Disk CFEB REV 04 750-010112 CB8771 Internet Processor II FPC 0 E-FPC PIC 1 REV 06 750-002982 DB7896 1x Tunnel PIC 2 REV 04 750-015588 DC6878 Adaptive Services-II FPC 1 E-FPC PIC 2 REV 05 750-009487 CC3689 ASP - Integrated (Layer-2-3) PIC 3 REV 10 750-009098 CN6380 2x F/E, 100 BASE-TX Fan Tray Rear Fan Tray [EMAIL PROTECTED]> show system storage Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on /dev/ad0s1a 216M 98M 101M 49% / devfs 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev devfs 1.0K 1.0K 0B 100% /dev/ /dev/md0 26M 26M 0B 100% /packages/mnt/jbase /dev/md1 110M 110M 0B 100% /packages/mnt/jkernel-9.0R2.10 /dev/md2 9.3M 9.3M 0B 100% /packages/mnt/jpfe-M7i-9.0R2.10 /dev/md3 3.7M 3.7M 0B 100% /packages/mnt/jdocs-9.0R2.10 /dev/md4 35M 35M 0B 100% /packages/mnt/jroute-9.0R2.10 /dev/md5 10M 10M 0B 100% /packages/mnt/jcrypto-9.0R2.10 /dev/md6 22M 22M 0B 100% /packages/mnt/jpfe-common-9.0R2.10 /dev/md7 1.5G 8.0K 1.4G 0% /tmp /dev/md8 1.5G 476K 1.4G 0% /mfs /dev/ad0s1e 24M 22K 22M 0% /config procfs 4.0K 4.0K 0B 100% /proc /dev/ad1s1f 17G 313M 15G 2% /var Kind regards Alain -----Message d'origine----- De : [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] De la part de David Ball Envoyé : mercredi 2 avril 2008 00:02 À : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc : juniper-nsp Objet : Re: [j-nsp] M7i Compact Flash You can use 'show system storage' and look for the /dev/ad0* device. Juniper indicates that 9.0+ requires a 1GB CF (though I'd be interested to hear if someone has tried it on a 256MB card just for kicks).
