Hi Aliyah,

Something that I think often confuses people is that the IP address you
configure needs to be the IP address of the VM, not of your computer that
you're trying to access it from. You're telling it which network interface
to listen on. You can probably find this inside the VM by running a command
like "ifconfig -a" . You may also need to configure its networking in the
program that runs your VM (e.g. Virtualbox).

There are also some complexities with JupyterHub because it runs different
processes which talk to each other, so you need to make sure you're
configuring the right thing to listen externally. I'll let someone who's
more familiar with Jupyterhub explain about that.
