So, anyone know what the deal is with there *still* being no 64-bit
"client" mode in OpenJDK? We're running into more and more folks on
64-bit platforms complaining about the poor startup, and the best
suggestion we can offer them is to install a 32-bit JVM instead.

There's the possibility of the tiered compiler mode coming along soon,
but is it enough? Does it work on 64-bit?

I've previously posted about trying to tweak server mode to start up
as fast as client mode, but I never really got there...and the set of
switches I did come up with are too onerous for us to expect any user
to figure out (or to set as default options, since the majority of
them are Hotspot-specific).

Anyone know what the hold-up might be? This affects all of us quite a
bit, since we all have runtimes or additional class libraries to load,
and we pay the price for a server-only 64-bit mode.
