    thanks heaps for the feedback!  I really need to scratch together some
time to look at this properly :-/.

    Just to clarify, were you unzipping the file
"jxworkbench-3.3.02-osx.zip"?

    (Because the whacky thing is I just unpacked that on OSX 10.6 and it
*is* set to 755, like it's supposed to be... nonetheless if this fixes the
problem on OSX 10.7/10.8 that's good info!)
