Hey! K9 is definitely my favourite email client for Android. I had been using it on my previous smartphone without any problems (Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i running Android 2). Since I changed my phone to Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini (running Android 4.4.2) I have experienced regular crashes ("K9 had to be closed"). It crashes e.g. when I open K9, it crashes when I change my email account, it crashes when downloading emails etc. There does not seem to by any pattern or way to predict these crashes.
Furthermore I experience severe problems with synchronizing my emails. I have 5 email accounts in K9, all (on purpose) synchronizing via POP3. I'd love to have 500 emails per account with size up to 5 MB - so that is what I tried to setup. Unfortunately from time to time all emails from one or more of my accounts disappear so I would have to synchronize them anew. That takes a long time and moreover synchronization-button has to be pressed manually again and again because downloading would stop after every few emails (so it takes pretty long to have back all 500 emails). Sometimes K9 would delete only the latest emails meaning that e.g. the last 150 emails are missing (the number of emails present in my K9-account would then be ~ 350 although 500 are set up). I then tried to reduce the number of emails to 100 per account which definitely helped the best. But still even then sometimes K9 would stop synchronizing at 75 emails, leaving out the newest ones. I cant't see a reason. Until now I had K9 synchronize my emails every 2 hours. But with the above-mentioned problems, where suddenly parts of my emails would get deleted and then updated again in small portions, K9 would eat up all my available data volume. (This is why in another post of mine I asked for a way to restrict email download to specific internet connections [download on WIFI but not on mobile data e.g.]). It did not help to deinstall K9 and reinstall. It did not help to delete all my data from K9 and set up again. Apart of K9 I use Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 machine where I have not ever had any problems with POP3 and synchronizing my emails. Can anybody help? What is the problem? Is it specific to my Android version? To my telefphone? Are these problems associated with the growing size of the K9-database? Thanks a lot in advance!
