Interesting! I didn't know that Comcast FINALLY added IMAP support. I just 
went and added my Comcast acct to k9 & got it to work. I used your 
settings. First I tried Incoming 993 & Outgoing 587 and got an SSL 
certificate error. So then I tried Incoming 993 & Outgoing 465 and it 
worked fine!

As far as your acct on your friends server, you can probably find the 
settings at his hosts site. Or, if you tell us who the host is then maybe 
someone here can help better. Just from my experience, I can give you 2 
suggestions.... some hosts require the username to be the full email 
address (n...@email.com) and some also require replacing the @ with a % 
 (name%email.com)
