the server is pop.verizon.net and the port for incoming is 995.  I don't
use this account for sending mail, so I don't know whether I'd get a
certificate error message for that, too.I have the most recent update of
K-9, and the device is a Galaxy S-4 with Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) OS.On

I have the same issue after upgrading to Lollipop 5.1. K9 worked fine
previously. I get a certificate error in the notification bar whenever
checking for new emails either automatically or manually. I have 3
Verizon email accounts in K9 and get it on all of them. I deleted one of
the accounts from K9 and used the stock email client and do not get an
error so the issue doesn't appear to be with the VZ certificate. The 2
accounts still in K9 get the error. Sending mail works ok. I found this
thread indicating the issue may be with K9 processing of POP accounts.
Latest post in thread was June 25 2015.

"Hi!
The bug still exists when using POP3. I looked at the changed code for
the new 5.002 release and you only changed the catch clause in the
ImapStore class. Could you add the CertificateValidationException check
in the Pop3Store, too? What about the WebDavStore? Can this happen
there, too?"

Seems to be a pretty big issue given the number of verizon POP accounts.
Wonder when if it will be fixed. I may just move to another client
though I like K9.
