An updated version of Android System WebView (44.0.2403.90) appears to be being pushed out. On an Android 5.x device of mine with K9 5.103 this fixed the net::ERR_CACHE_MISS and related URL opening issues that were otherwise addressed in K9 5.006 (stable)/5.107 (alpha). So you might want to load this new WebView release and see if your problem is resolved.
